Getting ready to break ground

The lasts months have been quiet but in the background progress was made.

We have selected local builder Brogan Builders from Maungaturoto as our builder.

The worm waste water tanks and drip lines for the soakage fields have been installed after several cancelled attempts as it was too wet to drive a digger down the hill.

In a few rounds we also got the electricity hook up installed and livened so we can charge our EV while on site.

Our construction loan has been approved.

The Formance Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s) for the walls have been manufactured, cut to size and are on their way to New Zealand. The order for our metal SIP roof panels in the Auckland factory has been given.

I couldn’t resist the affordable prices of an IKEA kitchen with integrated and energy efficient appliances while on my trip to the Netherlands so an Ikea kitchen has also been loaded to a ship to New Zealand. I felt a bit bad not ordering local but a quick search online revealed all major NZ appliance brands also manufacture overseas.

Next item on the list is to order the water tanks as they go underneath the house and a water tank for firefighting purposes.

And then finally after a very long wait the build of our home finally has started so more soon on the progress.
